Lucy.Pickering@glasgow.ac.uk
I am a senior lecturer in medical anthropology at the University of Glasgow. My primary research interests are around dirt and the social power of dirt as an idea, set of material objects and social force. My work centres primarily around bodies and health, with a particular interest in water, sanitation and hygiene, and the spaces where bodies and infrastructures meet. Recent publications include Down the Pan: New Directions in the Sociology of Dirt (2019), co-edited with Dr Phillippa Wiseman and Prof Sarah Armstrong. You can find me on Instagram @DirtyScholars.
