Digitisation of Mental Healthcare Archives Digitisation of Mental Healthcare Archives

The Digitisation of Mental Healthcare Archives is a collaborative project between the Wellcome Trust and a number of institutions including NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Archive, Dumfries & Galloway Council and the University of Glasgow Digitisation Centre. The University of Glasgow’s role in this project will digitise content from the Gartnavel Royal Hospital and Crichton Royal Institute collections which translates to over 350, 000 images. The two year project began in 2014 and is scheduled to be completed in late 2016. The range of records encompassed by the project includes patient records included casebooks and registers (up to 1914), administrative records, artworks, photographs and publications produced by patients and staff.
